The World Awaits ~ her name is Stella
My twin sister Emma gave birth to their second child yesterday, Stella is her name. I am the proud Auntie Kate again, she was a big girl, weighing in at 8 pounds 13 ounces with over 7 hours in labor! Stella had her first PR in birth as she beat her brother, Levi's time! I cant wait to meet her and our first skype date. What a beauty, proud of you sista!! I didnt even feel any labor pains this time:)
Matilda's Cause ~ Help Matilda get Up and Go!
I have always been so fortunate in meeting so many good people along the life of my travels as a professional triathlete. So many of them that have helped me along the way, opening their homes to me while training, being kind to me, and with each family I have met along the ways, I have found they always have a story of their own. This is the story of Matilda:
I met Janine and Geoff in Australia in 2008 when I was training for Ironman there. Janine has a niece named Matilda "Tilly" as she is called, that was born in 2008 with Cerebral Palsy.
You can read her story in full here: http://www.matildascause.com
Her Aunt Janine swam the Rottnest Channel Swim in Western Australia today for Tilly in a 19.7 km open water swim as a fund raiser and raised $1,650.00 which will go towards paying for a communication device before Tilly starts school next year. My hope is that we can continue to raise funds, one dollar at a time if necessay to help this wonderful little girl thats smile lightens up every room she is in. Please take a few minutes to read her story, take a few minutes away from doing what you are able to do every single day, take a few minutes to think about someone else, and to help others that have helped you achieve your goals.
Important to always help others...as many have helped me. Please "Help Tilly Talk". If you would like some additional information, please send me an email. You can also contact me on Facebook and Twitter.
Thanks for listening to me with my voice...
Squash Drive and Oakland Running Festival
Something very close to my heart, since I grew up playing Squash, and my husband Jeff teaches Squash here in San Francisco is the "Squash Drive". They are a great club that offers kids an after school program serving Oakland youth. They have hooked up with the "Oakland Running Festival" on March 25th, to try and raise funds to purchase a van. It's called "Run for a Ride"
I think back to when I was young and given the chance to play sport. If I didn't have a ride, well things were difficult, but thanks to my mum she made sure I got to where I needed to go! If there is just one way that we can help with the youth of today to be active and involved, to stay healthy, then I know the personal growth of these kids just got a bit easier! You can read about the "Squash Drive" here: http://squashdrive.org/about/ and the information about the event and how you can donate here: http://squashdrive.org/news-and-events/ and the Oakland Running Festival here : http://www.oaklandmarathon.com/site10.aspx
Flor Essence Herbal Tea Blend
I thought I would share some of the importance of good balance with my diet and exercise. As a professional triathlete or any kind of athlete for that matter, it is just as important that what you put into your body is good for it, along with being a natural product. I expect a lot from myself, and so I really try to listen and be kind back to my body!
One of the products that I have been excited about is Flor*Essence. It is a formula that is safe and effective for everyday use, short term and long term, and its gentle, detoxifying effects may be helpful in aiding a variety of health conditions. It is useful for a sluggish metabolism, low body temperature, sugar balance, and a variety of other digestive problems. I am always looking for good products, and happy to support this one!
